Deciding on A Color Scheme
Well chosen collection of colors can revitalize every aspect of your home, from the walls to the furniture and our specialty, the bedding and linens. An entirely new look is possible, but with thousands of colors to choose from the possible combinations of custom bedding and window treatments colors can be overwhelming. Trying to decide what color scheme to use in your bedrooms is the one that most people have the greatest trouble with, including our customers and clients.
Selecting a palette of colors that blend and accentuate can be difficult and time consuming. The challenge is to find the best colors to fit your personality and still have a color scheme that will be enjoyable for others and years down the line. For many, purchasing luxury bedding and custom bath products is a large investment and one that they plan to keep for years and years.
We often suggest finding something in your home that you adore (not your dog), and use it to build around. It could be as simple as a favorite blanket or throw pillow, or maybe a framed print or a sweater in your closet with your favorite colors. Take the favorite item to a local paint store and match up a few colors. Then take those samples home and lay them out in the bedroom. Do you still love them? Paint for a Quick Update
Hands down, the most versatile, durable, and inexpensive way to change a kid's room is with paint. The variety of colors and finishes makes it easy to choose just what you need to give your children's room a new look. It's also a great way to get creative! Create a striped or diamond pattern in your big girl's room by using painter's tape to protect the unpainted areas. Just remove the tape before the paint is completely dry. Try to coordinate with your kid's custom bedding and the custom children's decor. Cut up inexpensive sponges in favorite shapes and dip in paint to create a border along ceilings or around doors and windows. Let the kids put their own handprints on the walls in their favorite colors. Paint sections of wall with magnetic paint to tack up pictures, homework reminders, or play games. Use chalkboard paint to let them re-create their bedroom décor with colored chalk any time! Walls aren't the only things that benefit from a fresh coat of paint. If you have good, sturdy kid's furniture that no longer fits in with their new room. paint it, too! Go wild with colors, patterns and freehand art on dressers, desks, chairs and beds.
