All in the Details?
Which delights you more, the piece of chocolate cake or the beautiful Ghirardelli shavings perfectly placed on top with the squiggle of mint truffle syrup draped over it? For many of us, the actual cake is the best part, while some of us dwell in the details, the extras. Custom bedding and custom home decor parallel the cake. You might find the important part of your design is the structure and strength of the piece. The money you spend is justified in the quality of the product. Several others might feel the delicious details are what make it all worth while. At RedoTheRoom.com, we adore both types of client. We are sure to please the cake lover with high quality fabrics, thicker linings, double and triple stitchings, and our workmanship guarantee. For our chocolate shavings and syrup lovers, we are sure to include longer ruffles, stuffed flanges, beautiful bows, coordinating trims and fanciful monograms.

Is Skimping Worth it in the End?
Thinking back on my life, there were several instances when I tried to skimp on items or settle on something that was not quite what I really wanted. I can remember thinking it was a sign of real business prowess, a sign of money smarts. Actually, most of the time it did not work out to my advantage and I spent more trying to fix or replace the items in the end. Let me elaborate here to help illustrate my point. It was fifth grade, the year of the "twist-a-beads". Anyone who was anyone had a thick necklace of multiple strands and of course the shiny clasp to keep them in place. I had spent many of my hard earned babysitting dollars on these popular jewelry masterpieces. But I had to have more, in particular, the elusive ocean blue strand. I made a decision to buy a knock-off, cheaper version thinking no one whould know the difference. I paid half of what I would have spent on the true twist-a-bead strand. It was great for the first 2 weeks, I saved money, I had a "good enough" strand and I felt so smart! Then the cheapness of the strand came shining through, literally. The ocean blue paint chipped off and the plastic was there for all to see. I was upset, and embarrassed. I learned by skimping on the real deal, I was the one who lost. The money I saved initially I had to spend plus the extra money to buy a real twist-a-bead strand. I will never forget the lure of saving big bucks on "look a like" or "almost as good" products, then the feeling of stupidity and disappointment when it does not live up to your standards. At RedoTheRoom.com, we try to explain this lesson to our friends and customers. You might have to spend a little more in the beginning to get the designer bedding and custom drapes you really want, but it will be worth it in the end. There are decor products we suggest saving on, but custom crib bedding or girls custom bedding are not in that category. The quality bedding we provide has been hand made, stitched by professional seamstresses, and then inspected by us! The mass produced bedding and curtains you find at the big chain stores do not undergo these tests. Often the comforter looks beautiful in it's package, bright, crisp and well made. And what a great price, you think! Unfortunately, after you get it home and put it on your master bed, you notice a seam or two is pulling apart, or the fabric does not exactly line up along the seam. Or maybe you have purchased a girls comforter set and she is so excited to get it on her bed. Then 3 weeks later you see 2 of the buttons have fallen off and the sham has faded more than the comforter. That frustration you feel could have been avoided if you would have taken advantage of Redo The Room Flex pay plan! From this day forward, never forget that you get what you pay for, just as I did with the Twist-A-Bead "wanna be strand".
Moms and Internet Mojo
What we have long known is now becoming "news" in the media. Moms Rock. Simply put, we have power, importance and abilities but sometimes we forget to utilize them. From the article by Michelle Mitchell of Scribbit, she makes a great argument as to why we moms are so powerful, especially in the world of the internet: "Because women are generally the buyers for their homes in everything from clothing to food to minivans...you’ve heard “The hand that rocks the cradle rules the world”? Well she who does the shopping then blogs about it rules the net." What a great way to describe our influence on the internet. As mothers ourselves, we scour the internet for information, services, recommendations, networking and just for fun. Discovering little hidden jewels filled with great products and especially our favorites, anything customizable! The ability for a mom in Baltimore to create and design her very own bedding set from the comfort of her own home, then blog or write about her experience to people all over the world is mind boggling!

About the Economy, posted by Brittin Teichelman at Babble Playground Blog:
As the owner of an
upscale bedding business, the recession has been a challenge. It seems that the "fear of what might be" could be a contributing factor to reserved spending. There are many of us whose jobs seem stable and our income has not yet been affected, but we hesitate to spend because of the trends and the information we see on the news. Now, I bet that is a smaller percentage than the Americans who ARE deeply affected and are struggling to make ends meet. I do feel a sense of hope, though, when I talk to our customers. They know, like all Americans, that we are resiliant, intelligent and blessed, and we always bounce back. I am looking forward to the end of 2009, because I believe we will be in a better place with more Americans spending and more Americans back to work. And as for my business, we will hang on, keep providing great customer service and do what we can to ease the financial burden, by offering
FlexPay programs and discounts.
